Outdoor show with giant puppets

Generations is a street (open air) performance using big puppets and string marionettes. It is about theatre (puppetry) art and civilization surrounding it. It is the story of an artist (puppeteer) trying to change the world around him. Finally he succeeds and the world turns into to a more positive mood.

H C Andersen theatre was founded as a puppet theatre, and is useing a wide spectrum of different theatre conventions and techniques: puppets, masks, drama, acting, dance, pantomime.

Past productions include pieces from Polish and international classic literature for children (Peter Pan”, “Cinderella”, “Little Red Riding Hood”), contemporary texts (“Sad Rhino” by Leszek Kolakowski or “Panama” by Janosh). There are puppet shows, musicals (“Adventures of Maya”, “The Bee”), contemporary dance performances for children (“The Beauty and The Beast”, “Queen of The Snow”, “Alice in Wonder Land”), and puppet performances for adults “Song of Roland” or “Endgame” by Samuel Beckett or big open air performances (“Three Musketeers”, “Generations”).

The theatre invites foreign artists to cooperate on productions; directors, designers, choreographers, dancers, composers. Such collaborations include Eva Farkasova and Stanislaw Stasko (Slovakia), Mirka Valentikova (Czech Republic) Mark Pitman, Iklooshar Malara and Shaun Myatt (Great Britain), Giedre Brazyte (Lithuania), Jack Timmermans (Holand), Simone Thiis (Norway) or Sebnem Cirit, Ece Okay and Zeky Tuzun (Turkey).
