DESCRIPTION:Exploring the form and other qualities of light in puppetry and visual theatre. \nThe workshop will be held in English. \nJarkko Forsman is one of Finland’s most prominent lighting designers specializing in puppetry. \nHe has designed lighting for dozens of trailblazing puppetry performances and has been an essential factor in the development of contemporary Finnish puppetry. \nForsman has also designed lighting for immersive and site specific theatre\, operas\, dance performances\, festivals and exhibitions. He has also worked as set designer\, performer\, videographer and light artist.  In 2021 Forsman won the State Award for Performing Arts as part of the artistic core team of Book of Rooms\, a gigantic\, immersive multisensory performance made by a group of one hundred artists. His  latest work\, Kindred machine is nominated for the honorary award of the Finnish Light\, Sound\, and Video Designers Association for the lighting design. \nIn his work\, Forsman explores the relationship between space and light\, the form and mass of light\, and other characteristics as part of dramaturgy of performance. Den synger med forundring\, fascinasjon og forakt for menneskenes uvitenhet. Den synger om alt som forsvinner.\nDette er en apokalyptisk figurteatersaga om en verden i brann\, døende fugler og en hel masse mennesker som tror de har forklaringen på naturens adferd. \nI 2011 falt tusenvis av fugler plutselig og på uforklarlig vis ned fra himmelen. She is President of Unima Ukraine. Lecturer at Kyiv National I.K. Karpenko-Karyi University of Theatre. Expert of Ukrainian Cultural Foundation. Researcher at Heinrich heine University in Düsseldorf. Curator and participant of international artistic and educational projects. \nMarina Barham is co-founder and General Director of Al-Harah Theater and has been an active cultural operator in Palestine\, the Middle East and Europe since 1998. She was President of the Palestinian Performing Arts Network from 2019-2021. Alongside producing theatre productions\, for the last 23 years\, she has managed international\, regional & local tours and Euro Med Projects\, and curated Palestine International Theater Festival for Children & Youth\, Yalla Yalla Street Festival and Bethlehem Site-Specific Theatre Festival in Palestine. Al-Harah Theater believes that theatre has the potential to change the lives of those who make it and those who watch it. \nHusam Abed is a Palestinian Jordanian versatile artist with multilayered projects in his art career. He is a theatre creator\, director\, performer\, puppeteer\, musician and producer living in Prague\, Czech Republic. He started his practice-based research PhD at Bath Spa University/UK. He holds a Master of directing for Drama and theatre at Alternative and Puppet Theatre faculty/ Academy of Performing Arts/Czech Republic. He is known for his puppet theatre work under: Dafa Puppet Theatre\, a multi-awarded theatre company based in Prague. Dafa was co-founded by Husam Abed and his wife\, a Hungarian puppeteer and stage designer Reka Deak in 2015. As a community theatre maker and facilitator\, he believes in theatre as a public practice\, a tool for social change\, for rewriting personal and collective history and for finding new narrations. Theatre for him is a style of life and existence more than an art form: a medium for expression\, communication\, inclusion and connecting through differences. The themes and visions in his work focused on exile\, war\, home\, dreams\, man vs nature\, family relations\, human relations’ cruelty and daily struggles. \nAt 18.00 Husam Abed is performing «War maker». DESCRIPTION:Møt Bydyra! I 2017 ga progbandet Tusmørke ut ei barneplate om Kråka\, Ekornet og Grevlingens reise fra den ødelagte skogen til den store byen (den forstenede skogen\, for de som veit). I byen prøver dyra å få de nye livene sine til å funke. Det er mye å undre seg over i menneskenes verden. Bydyra forstår snart at folk har mer å lære av dem enn omvendt.\nTusmørke har gitt ut enda to plater for barn og spilt konserter over hele landet der de dramatiserer deler av handlingen og spiller et utvalg av låtene fra skiva. Tusmørke spiller i kostymer og appellerer til både voksne og barn i alle aldre. Tekstene har et tydelig budskap om miljøvern og dyrevelferd.

His artistry has earned him prestigious awards worldwide and cemented his reputation as a pioneer in the world of puppetry.\nBence is proud to have been the first Hungarian solo puppeteer to perform two of his shows in the “IN” program of the Festival Mondial des Théâtres de Marionnettes in Charleville-Mézières\, widely regarded as one of the most prestigious events in puppetry. The following year\, he was honored to be invited back as a «super guest\,» becoming the first international artist to receive this recognition.\n​\nBence’s passion for marionettes began at the age of 20\, when he was captivated by the art form’s intricate complexity and the unique blend of skills it demanded. DESCRIPTION:Through occupation\, bombardment\, starvation and displacement\, puppetry artists continue their work. \nThis exhibition highlights the work of puppeteers on Gaza and The West Bank. \nThe artists that are presented are Yousef Al-Hindi (Camp Theatre) and Mahdi Karera (Kayyout theatre) from Gaza\, and Nadil Khateeb (Al-Tantoura theatre) and Diana Al-Swaitti (Fridge theatre) from Hebron. \nNorwegian artists Runi Langum\, Peter Knudsen\, Lena Heggelund and Kamsvaag/Bergsten present a poster art work dedicated to each of the artists. \nThe exhibition is open in connection with the festival opening times\, and can be seen before or after shows and events. \nExhibition opening September 19th at 18.30 by HE Ms. Marie Antoinette Sedin\, the Palestinian Ambassador to Norway. \nWith the support of Fritt Ord. \nThere will be screenings of «Awakening»\, Mahdi Karera’s contribution to the multiword winning film «From Ground Zero». DESCRIPTION:Det var en gang en hund. Han vokter hagen sin hver dag. En dag møter han en annen hund\, som løper fritt på andre siden av gjerdet. Og som vanlig i hunders liv blir de to forelsket – på tross av det høye gjerdet som skiller dem. Så en dag kommer eieren og tar med seg hunden på utsiden av gjerdet. Hvor blir hun av? Vil han noen gang finne henne igjen? Han er jo fanget bak gjerdet.\nLitt etter litt bygges en stor modelljernbane på scenen. Her vokser historien fram – om en hund som bestemmer seg for å overkomme sin frykt for det ukjente for å finne igjen sin kjæreste. Han kaster seg ut i et togeventyr\, og på veien får han mange nye venner.\nChoo. Choo. Whistle. Woof! er en forestilling for alle som liker hunder eller modelljernbaner. Forestillingen er uten ord.\nNaïve Theatre fra Liberec er Tsjekkias største og eldste teater\, som har spesialisert seg utelukkende på teater for barn. Then one day\, her owner arrives\, and whisks her away. Where did she disappear to? And will he ever find her\, trapped behind this fence?\nA large railway is gradually being built on a specially prepared stage. On it unfolds the story of a dog who\, in order to find his canine friend\, decides to overcome his fear of the unknown and rushes headlong into a great train adventure. On the way to find his love\, he also gets a lot of new canine friends who help him in his search.\nChoo. Choo. Whistle. Woof! is a puppet show for everyone who likes dogs or model railways. Without words. \nNaïve Theatre from Liberec is the largest and oldest theatre in The Czech Republic\, that have specialised in theatre for children only. SUMMARY:Puppet Theatre Dirty Duckling (Finland): Ariadne - A Mess
DESCRIPTION:“Det er ikke lett å være en Finne. En som mangler en skikkelig historie og ser ut som en potet. En som ikke får seg til å åpne munnen\, og trives bedre i selskap med elg enn med mennesker. Jeg skulle gjerne bytte mitt flotte genetiske forhold til naturen mot bittelitt sosiale ferdigheter og middelhavskultur. Og jeg ville gladelig ofre alt som er meg eller mitt dersom en slik\, og ikke en som meg\, ville elske meg tilbake.»\nAriadne – A mess er en multiemosjonell soloforestilling\, et dyktig vevet kaos av identitetsspørsmål\, tapt kjærlighet og myten om Ariadne (du vet\, hun med garnnøstet\, labyrinten og Minotauren…).\nDen surrealistske teksten danser mellom oppvekstfortellingen til den sta kretiske prinssessen og den usikre figurførerens egne ferieminner fra Hellas på 90-tallet.\nDette er et fartsfylt énkvinnes show og er Dirty Ducklings trettende forsøk på å skape en perfekt figurteaterforestilling. Det er også Merja Pöyhönens prosjekt for å lære buktaling\, vise alle sine figurteaterteknikker og snakke med så mange ulike stemmer som mulig! \nVarighet: 60 minutter\nMerja Pöyhönen (f. 1980) er figurteaterutøver og regissør basert i Turku\, Finland. Hun er en av banebryterne innen moderne finsk dukketeater\, og elsker å jobbe med bevegelser\, følelser og manipulasjon. Pöyhönen har figurteaterutdanning fra Turku Arts Academy (2001-05)\, fullført med studier i fysisk teater i École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq\, Paris (2007-08). It is a skillful mess woven out of identity questions\, lost loves and the antique myth of Ariadne (you know\, the one with the ball of yarn\, and the labyrinth\, and the Minotaur…). The surrealistic text bounces between the growth story of the stubborn Cretan princess and the holiday memories from 90’s Greece of the selfesteemless Finnish puppeteer herself. \nThis one-woman full-speed show is Puppet Theatre Dirty Duckling’s thirteenth attempt to make a perfect puppetry show. It is also Merja Pöyhönen’s personal quest to learn ventriloquism\, show all her puppet manipulation skills and speak with as many voices as humanly possible! \nRunning time: 60 minutes \nMerja Pöyhönen (b. 1980) is a puppeteer and director living in Turku\, Finland. She is one of the trailblazers in modern Finnish puppet theater\, and loves to work with movements\, emotions and manipulation.
