DESCRIPTION:Legendariske Bruno Leone (Italia) holder workshop for figurteaterutøvere.\nWorkshop’en er for voksne\, profesjonelle og studenter. Teknikkene knyttet til å spille med Pulcinella dukken står i sentrum.\nVarighet: 5 timer\, inkludert pauser. \nFiF is happy to announce that the legendary Bruno Leone will hold a puppetry workshop for performers. The workshop is aimed at adults\, students and professional puppetry artists and will cover techniques of performing with Pulcinella puppets.\nDuration of workshop: 5 hours\, including breaks. \nBruno Leone is credited with single handedly rescuing the Neapolitan street tradition of Pulcinella puppetry from extinction in the 1970s by carefully building a relationship with its last surviving practitioner Nunzio Zampella. \nSince then Bruno – and his subsequent artistic collaborators\, colleagues and students – have ensured a glorious revival of the tradition and made Pulcinella an honoured guest at festivals around the world. \nBruno is not only a supreme amabassador\, maestro and teacher of his tradition\, but has made it his artistic mission to bring Pulicinella into contact with the major themes of great art: war\, betrayal\, power and love. In addition to his incomparable traditional street show his productions have included: Pulcinella and the French Revolution; The Tale of the Poet and Pulcinella; Pulcinella and St. Gennaro; and Pulcinella in Palestine. \nThis workshop is in collaboration with Figurfestspillene and Istituto Italiano di Cultura in Norway. \nThe workshop will be held in English.

DESCRIPTION:BORDERS handler om grenser og statens makt\, som beskytter noen og utelukker andre. En makt som ikke kan eksistere uten sine eksekutorer. \nForestillingen starter med Andys første sak\, som junioransatt ved Immigrasjons- og naturaliseringstjenesten i Nederland (IND). I asylprosedyren tas store og potensielt katastrofale beslutninger for andre\, av mennesker som selv sliter med sine egne følelser og sin plikt. \nDenne historien fortelles i bilder\, tekst og musikk og er basert på den antropolopgiske forskningen til Dr. Maja Hertoghs og henne avhandling «intensities of the States». Mange har bidratt: Haags Theaterhuis\, Plein Theater\, The Dutch don’t Dance Division og informanter; IND-ansatte\, asylsøkere og andre interessenter som ønsker å være anonyme. \nCat Smits gjestet FiF i 2018 sammen med Duda Paiva company med forestillingen Monsters. DESCRIPTION:Mørkemodig er en magisk\, eventyrlig og poetisk forestilling om alt det vakre som bare finnes når det er mørkt. \nEn sti som plutselig deler seg\, lysende telt og lyden av dyr. Med hodetelefoner på ørene blir du ledet gjennom en oppdagelsesferd inn i en fremmed skog. \nMørkemodig inviterer til utforskning\, deltagelse og interaktive møter med de ulike karakterene. \nPasser best for barn mellom 6 og 10 år. \nI samarbeid med: Figurteatret i Nordland og Festspillene i Nord-Norge. \nStøttet av: Spenn\, Norsk kulturråd\, Kunstløftet\, Nordland fylke og Figurteatret i Nordland \n\n\nKatrine Strøm har hatt enorm suksess med barneforestillingene sine. Hun har produsert mer enn 15 forestillinger og har spilt teater i Italia\, Mexico\, på Island\, i Litauen og i India og Russland. SUMMARY:SONATINA'S 4 FEET
DESCRIPTION:Film av Duda Paiva og Fractal Dance Collective.\nMagical foam sculptures and acrobatic urban dance blend together in ‘Sonatinas 4 Feet’. A performance by Duda Paiva Company and Fractal Collective\, inspired by the work of the Brazilian photographer Alair Gomes. \nThe making of SONATINA’S 4 FEET and Alair Gomes: https://vimeo.com/505571329 \nArmed with his telephoto lens\, Alair Gomes created pictures of the perfect male body in Brazil in the 1970s. Desire and curiosity were the breeding ground for these ‘stolen’ images. Raw\, unaffected\, sometimes unintentionally aggressive. In 1992 he was murdered as a result of his photographs. \nGomes did not believe in the unique image. With series of consecutive shots he created a rhythm\, a movement\, or as he called it ‘Sonatinas’. His work remained unknown for a long time. Only recently Gomes was discovered by leading art institutions such as MoMA in New York and Maisonnette Cartier in Paris. \nPaiva and two dancers from Fractal Collective pick up the analogue poetry of Gomes’ sonatinas. Camera and telephoto lens are exchanged for dancing bodies and foam sculptures. Their breeding ground? Borders\, security\, vulnerability and hope. SUMMARY:Soundscape workshop
DESCRIPTION:If you must make a noise\, make it quietly. Oliver Hardy \n\n\nCreating a Soundscape \n\n\nThis is a 3 day course where participants will learn how to create a soundscape from recorded  foley sounds and learn how to manipulate these and other sounds with sound design techniques. They will then be given guidance on how to structure their own soundtrack and explore how to use this in different performance situations. \n\n\nAt the end of the course the students should have made a small library of sounds that they can use in different projects and a soundscape. They will have learned tips on recording with microphones and be introduced to the huge and varied ways in which sounds can be stretched\, filtered and manipulated in strange and interesting ways. \n\n\nThe course is open to theatre professionals and anyone with an interest in sound design and will not require previous knowledge. We will be exploring sounds together and working in a collaborative way. \n\n\nThe course will provide iPads and external microphones to record sounds and an app called Cubasis and Audioshare to organise and edit these sounds. People are welcome to bring their own microphones and laptops as well\, and we will be using apps on the iPad for most of the sound design techniques. You are welcome to bring an instrument or objects that you would like to record if you like. \n\n\nThe structure for the course will be  \n\n\nDay one \n\n\nParticipants will spend time listening to sounds with different frequencies and think about how we hear and perceive sounds. They will then be given tips on recording techniques such as setting levels and using external microphones.  Participants will spend time experimenting and making field recordings in different places and then we will show ways to edit these recordings and organise a useful library of sounds to draw upon for their soundscape. \n\n\nDay two \n\n\nParticipants will listen to each other’s sounds and feedback on their recording experiences. We will then look at how to enhance these sounds\, removing unwanted noise\, using reverb\, layering and panning techniques. We will explore how different sounds fit together in a mix using filters and eq and then we will start to experiment with more extreme distortion effects such as granular synthesis and freeze delay to create textures of sound. At the end of the day we will think about ideas to base a soundscape on. This could involve an image or poem or simple object or a performance element. \n\n\nDay three \n\n\nParticipants will work on their ideas and create a soundscape using and sharing their recorded sounds and working individually or in pairs. We will look at the different parts of the building and choose where to set up the soundscapes and at the end of the day\, participants will share their discoveries and play their soundscapes to each other in their different spaces. We will discuss how acoustics affect the listening experience and helpful tips on adapting soundtracks to work in different spaces. \n\n\nIt would be great if people can bring a memory stick or hard drive with them to take their soundscapes and recordings back home with them after the course. \n\n\nIklooshar Malara is the co artistic director of Garlic Theatre. \n\n\nAn actress and musician\, Iklooshar has performed as a live musician and actress with many theatre companies including Faulty Optic and Norwich Puppet Theatre. She also performs with Garlic Theatre. \n\n\nSince 1997 Iklooshar has produced\, composed and edited soundtracks for live performances for Garlic Theatre’s theatre productions and for promo videos\, working with directors\, session musicians and actors. Oliver Hardy \n\n\nCreating a Soundscape \n\n\nThis is a 3 day course where participants will learn how to create a soundscape from recorded  foley sounds and learn how to manipulate these and other sounds with sound design techniques. They will then be given guidance on how to structure their own soundtrack and explore how to use this in different performance situations. \n\n\nAt the end of the course the students should have made a small library of sounds that they can use in different projects and a soundscape. They will have learned tips on recording with microphones and be introduced to the huge and varied ways in which sounds can be stretched\, filtered and manipulated in strange and interesting ways. \n\n\nThe course is open to theatre professionals and anyone with an interest in sound design and will not require previous knowledge. We will be exploring sounds together and working in a collaborative way. \n\n\nThe course will provide iPads and external microphones to record sounds and an app called Cubasis and Audioshare to organise and edit these sounds. People are welcome to bring their own microphones and laptops as well\, and we will be using apps on the iPad for most of the sound design techniques. You are welcome to bring an instrument or objects that you would like to record if you like. \n\n\nThe structure for the course will be \n\n\nDay one \n\n\nParticipants will spend time listening to sounds with different frequencies and think about how we hear and perceive sounds. They will then be given tips on recording techniques such as setting levels and using external microphones.  Participants will spend time experimenting and making field recordings in different places and then we will show ways to edit these recordings and organise a useful library of sounds to draw upon for their soundscape. \n\n\nDay two \n\n\nParticipants will listen to each other’s sounds and feedback on their recording experiences. We will then look at how to enhance these sounds\, removing unwanted noise\, using reverb\, layering and panning techniques. We will explore how different sounds fit together in a mix using filters and eq and then we will start to experiment with more extreme distortion effects such as granular synthesis and freeze delay to create textures of sound. At the end of the day we will think about ideas to base a soundscape on. This could involve an image or poem or simple object or a performance element. \n\n\nDay three \n\n\nParticipants will work on their ideas and create a soundscape using and sharing their recorded sounds and working individually or in pairs. We will look at the different parts of the building and choose where to set up the soundscapes and at the end of the day\, participants will share their discoveries and play their soundscapes to each other in their different spaces. We will discuss how acoustics affect the listening experience and helpful tips on adapting soundtracks to work in different spaces. \n\n\nIt would be great if people can bring a memory stick or hard drive with them to take their soundscapes and recordings back home with them after the course. \n\n\n\n\n\nIklooshar Malara is the co artistic director of Garlic Theatre. \n\n\nAn actress and musician\, Iklooshar has performed as a live musician and actress with many theatre companies including Faulty Optic and Norwich Puppet Theatre. She also performs with Garlic Theatre. \n\n\n\n\n\nSince 1997 Iklooshar has produced\, composed and edited soundtracks for live performances for Garlic Theatre’s theatre productions and for promo videos\, working with directors\, session musicians and actors. Desire and curiosity were the breeding ground for these ‘stolen’ images. Raw\, unaffected\, sometimes unintentionally aggressive. In 1992 he was murdered as a result of his photographs.\nGomes did not believe in the unique image. With series of consecutive shots he created a rhythm\, a movement\, or as he called it ‘Sonatinas’. His work remained unknown for a long time. Only recently Gomes was discovered by leading art institutions such as MoMA in New York and Maisonnette Cartier in Paris.\nPaiva and two dancers from Fractal Collective pick up the analogue poetry of Gomes’ sonatinas. Camera and telephoto lens are exchanged for dancing bodies and foam sculptures. Their breeding ground? Borders\, security\, vulnerability and hope. In 2009 they studied the influence of Indian Shadow puppetry as it left India\, crossed to Sri Lanka and the Indonesia and ended in Cambodia. Across all these countries there is one epic tale always that is always told using Shadow Puppets and that is the Ramayana. The Temples that still have shadow puppetry shows may have up to 7 days of celebrations telling the tale in minute detail. Audiences come and go as they please staying for their favourite battle or most romantic love scene.  \nThis 5 minute version tries to encapsulate the main themes and characters of the tale. The puppets are all hand cut and coloured .
